Complimentary Treatments in Mayan Abdominal Therapy

Complimentary Treatments in Mayan Abdominal Therapy

The Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT) is a modality developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, synthesizing techniques she learned from Don Elijio Panti, a traditional shaman from Belize. The core of the treatment is an abdominal massage that helps increase blood flow and lymph drainage in the abdomen and lower body. This helps support muscles, veins, arteries and nerves. The massage also helps align the organs of the pelvis for optimal function. Symptoms that can be relieved by this treatment include digestive disorders; anxiety; painful, heavy or irregular menses; low back pain; and many others.

Doctor Karla Morgan is a Naturopathic Physician with professional care training in ATMAT. Join Rising Fire in welcoming Dr. Morgan as she provides Mayan Abdominal Therapy to our community!

Complimentary treatments are offered for a limited time. At this time treatment is offered only to women. NOTE: ATMAT massage is not done with women during menstruation or pregnancy. If you have an IUD or have had recent abdominal surgery ATMAT is not recommended.

Treatment includes:

·  A discussion about your health concerns and answering any questions that you have. This will take 30-40 minutes.

·  We will take about 15 minutes to go over how to continue self-care at home. You will receive a hand out with instructions.

What you will need to invest in this experience:
Completion of a detailed intake form (about 20 minutes); Two hours of your time for the treatment; Willingness to provide feedback.

DR KARLA MORGAN SAYS: “By basing my practice in ATMAT I am following the ways of traditional healers, where massage, nutrition, herbal medicine, respectful listening and loving kindness were cornerstones of treatment. ATMAT is a wonderful place to begin a healing journey. The abdomen and pelvic bowl are powerful places in our bodies that hold physical and emotional tensions. Starting treatment with this basic approach is the center of a wheel that can touch all areas of our health.”
